A note from GMO Director, Brian Carmack.

“. ..The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”   (Psalm 19: 9b-11).

While visiting the stateside home of a missionary couple a short while ago they placed in my hands a book so rare, it was absolutely priceless!  It seemed obscure at first as I looked it over.   The cover wasn’t anything very special, the binding was adequate, although nothing fancy; and the pages themselves seemed to be something you’d see in any college paper or corporate report.  What made it so rare and special?  It was the ONLY complete version of the Old Testament in a particular native South American language.  The ONLY one in existence!  That may not seem like a big deal to you because you can get a copy of the Bible in any Walmart in America.  I’ve even seen them at the dollar store here in Georgia.  The people who will be receiving this Bible have never had a complete version of the Bible, EVER!

I’ve heard the stories of the translation process that has taken place in the deepest recesses of the jungles of South America and how tribal members  would travel up to five days, cross borders,  and face threats and hardships we in America could never imagine, just to hear the Bible read in their language.  To them, a complete Old Testament is priceless.  It’s worth facing danger.  It’s worth dying for.

You may be interested to know that the translation process is nearly complete.   Within a year  they will have the entire Bible in their language and up to 5,000 copies will be printed and sent into the jungles where they can be distributed and used to teach those who have never heard the name of Jesus about their Savior who loves them.  What do you think the value of those 5,000 copies will be when it reaches the hands of those tribes who are eagerly anticipating their arrival?  Would you still say priceless?  Would you say “more precious than gold, yea, than much fine gold?”

Global Missionary Outreach’s Team Haiti 2010 will have a very similar opportunity in just two weeks!  We will be working with homeless, helpless, and lost people.  We will be repairing buildings damaged in the earthquake, feeding the hungry,  seeing the sick and the hurting.  But buildings will crumble, food will satisfy for only so long, and the benefit of the medicines will only last a while.   The greatest task before us is in sharing the Word of God!  It is PRICELESS!  It is ETERNAL!  Pray, pray, pray, for our team!

Thank you again for your continuing love and support for this ministry!

An Excellent Opportunity:

An excellent opportunity awaits us as we will be leaving in just 4 weeks to minister once again in the country of Haiti.  Originally, Team Haiti 2010 was formed to drill a well in Kange, the village where we built the church for Pastor San Bloe in 2007.  The Lord has even seen  fit to add a professional well driller to the team!  However, the devastating earthquake last January has shifted our focus.  After the quake, I told Pastor Wall, the missionary we will be serving, that although we still want to fund the well for Kange, we want to do whatever he needs us to do, and he has provided us with quite a list of things, ranging from building repairs to working in their medical clinic.  I am excited about going to several different churches and repairing the damage sustained by the earthquake because here is where the excellent opportunity comes in:  as we have learned in the past, our presence will draw curious onlookers and even some crowds.  Upon completion of the repairs, we are going to have church!  Don’t think for a minute that our well drillers won’t be able to apply their skills here, because one of them, David Coon, is not only a well driller, but he is also a preacher and a musician.  Once he breaks out his trumpet and starts to play, we will be able to draw in some large crowds and we can minister to many!  Three other men on the team are also men who can preach the Word with boldness and we are praying that the repair work will lead to a Soul Harvest!  What an opportunity!

Other Opportunities:

Other opportunities that await Team Haiti 2010 lie in the Wall Family’s medical clinic.  We are blessed once again to have Jill Edwards and Erin Bomby joining the team.  Jill is a nurse who has worked in the clinic back in 2007. Jill will be meeting our team there as she will be coming from Southern California.   Erin is a teacher specializing in special needs students and has conducted clinics in Haiti last year specifically for people with physical and mental disabilities.  Together with Joyce Wall will be busy daily as they treat people with conditions ranging from dehydration to burns.   My daughter Katie will be helping in this clinic as well and the exciting part for us is that Katie was there when we built this clinic back in the fall of 1997 (although she was just shy of turning 2 years old) and now she’ll come full circle and have the opportunity to work there!  What a blessing!

Please pray for Team Haiti 2010!

Prayer is your opportunity to participate on this team!   We have an exciting team this year made up of preachers and professionals, veteran GMO missionaries and first timers, teens and old folks (like me).

While we’re on the field next month, pray that the Lord will not only draw on our individual experience, but will also show His strength in our lack of experience.  Pray that we will be unified in our endeavor to serve our missionary partners, and to reach out to the people of Haiti.  Pray that lives will be changed by what the Lord does through us on the field!

As we prepare to go to the field, pray that the Lord will raise the rest of the funding needed.  We have a goal of raising $5,000.00 by April 15th and we are just under half that amount as of March 25th.  Pray for each of the team members (see the Team Haiti page of this web site to find out more about them).  Pray for them as they prepare to go and pray for their family members who must wait patiently for their return.  Pray that their lives will be changed through this experience and they each will be used in a mighty way as they each serve the Lord!

Please take a moment and review the pages of this web site to familiarize yourself with the ministry of GLobal Missionary Outreach.  It is indeed a privelege to serve the Lord in this capacity!  Thank you for your conitnued prayers and support!
